Our Hospitals
The Divine Healer Works through Us
The human concern of the Divine healer has been well evidenced in our hospitals and dispensaries through our prioritization for serving the poor and the marginalized. We have been providing the optimum medical care at the minimum cost.
Upahara Matha Hospital
Upahara Matha at Kallada has celebrated its silver jubilee in December 2005, has launched into a commendable phase in health care through "SANJEEVANI," an innovative venture in medical ministry. The focus of this venturesome project is on home care and health service for the senior citizens and bedridden patients of the locality.
Our medical team makes regular visits to the patients in their homes and renders medical service. A Geriatric Care Unit functions as an auxiliary to the hospital. We believe, "More things are wrought by prayer than these world dreams of" and hence we synthesize medical care with spiritual guidance and prayerful consolation.
AL -Anon Ministry
Since last 7 years Suchetna has been involved in the life of the people of the slum area known as 'Kanjad Basti'/'Dolak Basti'. The tutors strive hard to provide a good quality of education, take personal interest in the welfare of the children and share a friendly relationship with them.
Their efforts are fruit bearing and have changed their course of life. Monitoring and evaluation of the work is regularly done by Fr. Pius, the Director. Timely trainings are also conducted by the resource persons on different issues pertaining to the society.
Awareness Programmes
The students from classes VII, VIII, IX, & X from Nirmala and St. Theresa's school frequently visit the slum class vise. There they conduct various cultural activities and programmes including literacy classes. By this the school going children are sensitized towards the reality of the society.
Health Camp
Regular health check-up camps are arranged by Sr. Eugenia the health coordinator and whenever needed medicines are distributed. Along with the check-up the people are also motivated towards health and hygiene and clean environment. Informative knowledge is also spread among the people by means of puppet shows and street plays.
One of the main thrusts of our apostolate is Education. Forty two sisters are engaged in this ennobling ministry.
We have been concentrating on Primary Education.
We aim at achieving the following Objectives:
Schools & Establishments
With the lofty aim of improving the nutritional status of the children and their personality and character formation, we have started a Play School and Child Development Centre for Preschool Children at Chullimanoor, with the assistance of Central Social Welfare Board. Through the functional literacy Programme the parenting skills of their parents are also enhanced.
Motivation for develop the Talents
Important days and festivals are celebrated in the slum area to make the people aware of the day's importance. Every year the rag picking children are given an opportunity to participate in the Bal and Kishori Milan organized by Suchetna. Along with the Input sessions various competitions and cultural programmes are conducted to bring about their talent and as an appreciation the winners are awarded with prizes. During the class hours children are given mid day meal. Outings are also arranged for the children as it becomes an unique experience for the children as they hardly get out of the Basti and their daily routine.
