Education Ministry

In the earlier years the catechetical, medical and social apostolate were prioritized and our teaching apostolate failed to receive sufficient attention. As the time elapsed we began to think, in the line of - 'prevention is better than cure'.

Education of the young ones could solve untold problems of the family and society. Our main mission of proclamation of faith, empowerment of girl child and preventive health measures could be easily answered inside the four walls of the classroom and teaching apostolate could be a powerful mission catalyst according to the vision of Fr. Bodewig who was an educationist and a scholar.

Sr. Alicia and Sr Rosa were the pioneers in Kallianpur to take up the education ministry at LVP School, in 1975. Following this, a number of sisters were trained and engaged themselves in teaching in Government, aided and unaided schools, a major part in diocesan schools of our province.

The year 2004 was an awakening year as the 'Education Trust' was formulated and teaching ministry received a face lift. The two high schools built in recent past in the remotest mission station in ujjini in Bidar, and Sorab in Shimoga, is a challenge to dream big, with a constant risk to avail teachers, but purely with a motive to give creative, committed service to the poor, marginalized and known as backward villages of Asia! Girl's hostels and boarding for children is another important area we focus upon to work for the empowerment of women and children.
